Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you may or may not be aware I have decided before I reach the ripe old age of 40 (I wish) to complete a cycle challenge of 180miles in two days from Ullapool to Aberdeen on the 19th and 20th August 2010. As well as completing for my own satisfaction and pain I have decided to raise money for a cause which can really make a difference. It did for us as a family and could one day for you and / or your family and friends.
Our daughter (CERI) was admitted to the hospital at varying times from 6weeks to two years old, but thankfully is a healthy little girl now. Having gone through the experience you really appreciate what ARCHIE has done for the Children's hospital and the facilities available on site. By raising this money I would hope that they can continue to make a difference.
The ARCHIE Foundation is the official charity of the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and Community based Child Health throughout Grampian, Orkney and Shetland. All monies donated to the ARCHIE Foundation go directly towards ‘making the difference’ for children who are patients of the NHS in Grampian and the islands.Every penny donated to the ARCHIE Foundation makes a difference for local children when they need it the most. The ARCHIE Foundation relies wholly on support from the local communities of the north east of Scotland and the Northern Isles. They receive no financial support from the NHS or from the local authorities.
Every child deserves to be healthy!
At the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, and in our local communities, they are working with the local NHS teams doing everything in our power to make this happen.‘Making the Difference’ for close to 100,000 patients every year, the ARCHIE Foundation provides all of the extras that allow an enhanced level of care for local children. They provide key staff posts such as the ARCHIE Specialist Nurse, the ARCHIE Music Therapist and the ARCHIE Family Support Worker. They buy life changing medical equipment and fund specialist training to ensure the local healthcare teams can always provide the most up-to-date and high quality careThey Buy toys, books and computer games, run art workshops and provide musical concerts in the hospital – often at the bedside of children who are too sick to come to our communal play areas.
