I am riding one of the most daunting cycling events in the annual calendar, the Etape Du Tour, a stage of the Tour de France run for amateurs.  It involves 180 km of Alpine Mountains finishing at the top of the legendary Mount Ventoux.  Training for this event has been extraordinarily hard and the event is challenging, so much so that they stop you and chuck you into a sweeper van if you fail to climb the mountains at speed.

Weston Hospicecare is a local Hospice and a number of people I work with at Avon and Somerset Police have had friends or relatives who have used their superb services.  The annual running costs for the Hospice are around £2.4 million and like most Hospices it receives minimal public funding.  I am a great fan of the Hospice movement and have had personal experience of the support a Hospice can provide.  It works within the community for the community and anything you can give will be put to good use.
