I am raising money for the Brittle Bones Society in memory of my cousin, Robert Dandridge. He sadly passed away on 9th April at the age of 31 having suffered from Brittle Bones. Brittle bones, also known as Osteogenesis Imperfecta is a condition where the bones in the body are not strong enough to support much weight and snap very easily. It also causes other problems such as hearing loss and curvature of the spine. Robert had severe brittle bones and was wheelchair bound. His chest became so compressed over time that he had only a fraction of his full lung capacity left towards the end. Sadly he died having contracted pnuemonia, which, coupled with his tiny lung capacity, meant he was unable to breath anymore. Robert was an amazing inspiration to anyone who knew him, living a determined, selfless and independant life. Despite what he had to deal with he was always cheerful and always found a way to get the most out of every opportunity.

The Brittle Bones Society helps people like Robert to cope with their day to day life, giving them the advice and help they need to live easier and more independant lives. They provide specialist equipment and wheelchairs when needed, and provide a valuable social network enabling families to get together and share their experiences and knowledge of how to cope with this condition, letting them feel that they are not alone.

In order to raise this money myself and my partner Pete are cycling 920 miles from John O'Groats to Lands End between 31st May and 10th June 2010. Please give what you can to help people like Robert have a better quality of life.

Update:
We both successfully completed the ride on 10th June 10.45am after cycling for 11 days and totalling 938.8 miles! A full account of the journey is up on the blog page along with some pics! Go to http://jogleforbrittlebones.blogspot.com. A huge thanks for the support and generosity of all the sponsors :o)
