Cyclists Fighting Cancer

Cyclists Fighting Cancer awards shiny new bikes, tandems and specially adapted trikes to children and young people who have been affected by cancer throughout the UK and Northern Ireland. We encourage cycling as the best form of exercise based rehabilitation for those children undergoing and recovering from cancer treatments. To encourage them further we also give bikes to their siblings and in many cases their parents in order that they can take part in an activity as a family once again after what can be years of hospitalisation and disruption. My story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

This summer Rob Stevenson and Dan Maitland are cycling from the West coast of the USA, Oregon, to the East coast, Virginia, to raise money for Cyclists Fighting Cancer.

Here are some facts about the adventure:

Total distance: 4,262 miles
Total elevation climbed: 130,000 feet
States travelled through: 11 (or more depending on our ability to navigate!)
Travel time: 50 days (roughly, we think!)

This means we will be averaging over 80 miles per day and by the end will have climbed the equivalent of over four Mt Everests.

We are paying for the trip entirely out of our own money so any donations will be completely used by the charity we are supporting. Furthermore we are doing the trip entirely self supported carrying all of our own kit and without any back up vans that we can jump into when we get tired.
