Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
The Cardiomyopathy Association celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2009. The charity was created by Carolyn Biro due to the lack of available information and support for people affected by cardiomyopathy. Following Carolyn's initial vision the last 20 years has seen the charity grow significantly.
It is now widely recognised as a crucial source of information and support for people and families affected by cardiomyopathy and a major contributor to clinical services by its funding of specialist doctors and nurses posts and its annual educational conferences programme.
To mark the 20th anniversary landmark I am aiming to raise £2,000 by taking part in five running events in the anniversary year:
The Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon - 15th February
UPDATE: I completed the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon in 2 hours 49 mins. A very tough course but a great day with many othe CMA runners. One down!.
The Great Manchester Run - 17th May
UPDATE: I joined 7 other CMA supporters in Sunday's Great Manchester Run and completed it in 1 hour 18 minutes. A very good atmosphere all around the course that even the Manchester weather couldn't spoil. Three to go!
The British London 10k Run - 12th July
UPDATE: I'm pleased to say I completed the London 10k in the identical time of 1 hour 18 minutes. 36 CMA runners took part, including my son doing his first ever run. It was great to see so many CMA runners (passing me of course!). The next run is the Great North and I've really got to train harder!
The Great North Run - 20th September
UPDATE: It was a surprisingly hot day but the atmosphere and the support of the North East crowd got me round in 3 hours. Not a great time but I was affected by cramp in the last two miles. The 29 other CMA runners did a fantatic job in completing the course. Thank you to everyone who sponsored me following the CMA information day on Saturday. One more to go!
The Great South Run - 25th October
This adds up to about 1 mile for every week of the anniversary year. Please give whatever you can to help ensure the CMA is able to continue to help cardiomyopathy patients for the next 20 years and beyond.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cardiomyopathy Association gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support.
