On the 14th - 23rd November 2009 I will be embarking on a trek across the Sahara Desert to raise money for charity. The experience is going to be extraordinary and unforgettable, as well as being a tough test of physical and mental stamina.

The charity that I am raising money for is Help for Heroes. It was formed in 2007 to help the wounded in the current conflict in Afghanistan. It benefits all three services and is run by a largely volenteer workforce. The charity supports both capital projects and grants to specialist organisations to directly support the wounded.

Having completed a tour of Iraq and soon to be deployed to Afghanistan, I have had first hand experience of the situation and know only too well the trauma of conflict. The seriously injured have to face the rest of their lives with their disabilities; so will their families, it is important that they are not forgotten..  It is for that reason that I'm raising money for this just cause...
