Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I am running the Polaroid Eyewear 10K Road Race Series, (4x 10K Races)to raise money for Bobath Scotland. This is my first attempt at running for charity, having reached the age of 38 without expending too much energy and only starting to train in January. Fraser has already benefitted from a block of therapy at Bobath and will hopefully be allocated another block later this year. This small charity work wonders with children who have cerebral palsy and deserve as much support as possible.
Please dig deep and sponsor me online. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Bobath Scotland will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
Update 1 - Finished the first race (Helensburgh) today and beat the 1 hour barrier. My time was 57 minutes and 54 seconds. Very tired and I will feel it in the morning but very happy. Thanks to everyone for your support so far.
Update 2 - Clydebank was tougher than I expected. After the Helensburgh race, I have picked up a wee injury and although it is not sore when I am running, I was 40 seconds slower in the Clydebank race. Still under the hour and still determined to complete the series. Thanks again for the support.
Update 3 - Dumbarton last night was the toughest race yet. I developed a blister on my left foot about 5k in but still managed to finish 2 seconds faster than Helensburgh. 57 minutes 52 seconds is now a personal best. Looking forward to finishing the series. Keep the support and donations coming!
Update 4 - HOT, HOT, HOT! Lynn & John said the hill was deadly but they didn't mention the heat. The weather forecast was for cloud but it was wrong. The sun came out and made the hill three times its normal length. Still made it under the hour but only just. 59 minutes and 37 seconds but after all that, Brian my running partner and I crossed the line in a photo finish. Glad it's over but also glad to have raised so much money for Bobath Scotland. Keep it coming.
