The Barely Born Appeal raises funds to help provide St Mary's Hospital with a new, spacious, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, adjacent to the Maternity Ward for the island's sick babies and their parents. This will provide space, additional cots, privacy, overnight accommodation, play facilities and a counselling room.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 8th-29th January 2012 I will be attempting to summit Mount Aconcagua, in Argentina, to raise funds for the Barely Born Appeal at St. Mary's Hospital on the Isle of Wight www.barelyborn.co.uk . This vital appeal hopes to raise enough to build and properly equip a much needed new NICU facility, providing essential care for future generations of sick babies and their parents.

Aconcagua is the highest mountain in the world outside Asia at 22,841 feet (6962 metres). It's a notoriously difficult mountain that has claimed many lives and only 30% who attempt to climb her reach the summit. It will be a huge personal challenge, a 3 week expedition that is immensely demanding physically whilst also having to combat the effects of extreme altitude. But with nearly a whole year's hard training I hope to give myself the best possible chance.

I am paying all costs for the trip so 100% of donations can go direct to the charity. Please remember to tick gift aid if you are a UK taxpayer and please be generous for this worthy cause.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
