Meet the suport crew!
About my charity : Cancer Research UK Cancer Research UK
Cancer Research UK is the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research. We support research into all aspects of cancer through the work of more than 4,250 scientists, doctors and nurses. Over the past 10 years alone, thousands of lives have been saved through earlier detection and improved treatments. But, much work remains to be done if we are to achieve our aim of beating cancer.

My personal message:

Thanks for visiting my Land's End to John O'Groats page.

Today's the day - I'm on my way! GAME ON!

Diary updates at:  http://www.freewebs.com/2wheelsgood/lejogdiary.htm

Let's face it you can't do this kind of thing without asking for a few quid for a good cause!

Luckily, as the blurb states, "donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you".

So please sponsor me now!

You want details? OK.

The rather unplanned plan is to grab the minimum amount of gear, get myself and the bike on the train and head down to Land’s End . Point the bike north and pedal 1,000 miles.

Spare tube, bivvy bag, and what cash I can muster – what can go wrong? I’ve got about two weeks to fine tune this elegantly simple plan.

I’m hoping that most of the kit I’ll need I’ll already have (donations of expensive, technical and lightweight kit always welcome of course). The bike (a Giant SCR2) is relatively new and so in good nick. And me? Well I’ve cycled over 1,000 miles commuting to work so far this year (saving nearly half a tonne of CO2), two recent 90 mile trips, I reckon I’ll make it...

But how long will it take? – and how will I get home? (don't want to miss Bike Week and then there's a Dragon Boat Race!!)

I'll know you'll be generous so many thanks for your support.

Unfortunately the support crew will not be able to make it this time!

Update & Responses

I've realised a little late in the day why people plan ahead for these things. So much to waffle on about! To keep this site free from my ramblings I've created a seperate site for my various little adventures www.freewebs.com/2wheelsgood/index.htm, inlcuding this trip.

Check out the LEJOG section, where I can let you know if my bags and rack arrive in time, what the route might be and the answers to your questions.

I continue to be impressed by people's generousity - thank you all very much!
