Just wanted to say big special thankyou to Bethan for being there for support and also to Fiona for kicking my arse and getting me to the end, thanks guys.
I have finally decided to get off my arse and do something worth while.
I’ve thought about doing the Welsh 3000’s also known as 15 peaks challenge before, but I have never really gotten around to do them (mainly due to laziness and not being anywhere near fit enough to even look at them!). But I am determined that this year is the year to go for a long walk!
In order to complete the challenge I have to make it to the top of all 15 of the mountains over 3000 ft in Snowdonia within the space of 24 hours without using any form of transport. The length is about 25 miles from the top of the first peak to the top of the last peak, but the walks to the first peak and down from the last peak can take it to over 30 miles in total!
I will be raising money for the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team who do a stunning job of helping people in all kinds of difficulties and in all kinds of treacherous weather conditions – the work they do and dedication they have is incredible which is why I have decided to help and raise money in order for them to carry on their superb work.
About the Team:
The Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team is made up entirely of volunteers who live close toSnowdon.
Mountain guides and instructors, teachers, plumbers, doctors, park wardens, builders, nuclear engineers and business consultants - all and more can be found in the team. All are skilled and experienced mountaineers. Turning out in all weathers, day or night, 365 days a year, they share a common purpose - to help anyone who is in trouble on the hills. The Rescue team is based in Nant Peris (the old Llanberis), a village nestled at the foot ofSnowdon.
Many thanks,
Robin
