Story
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.
Yet again, we are running to raise funds for Acorns, but again making our challenges tougher to persuade you to sponsor us. This year Acorns need for funds is greater than ever, and without their support we would not be able to function as well as we do. For those of you who don't know us that well, Sophie has uncontrollable Epilepsy together with profound and multiple learning disabilities. She needs complete care 24/7 and the only support we get is from Acorns.
So Ted is going to to do more than dress as a chicken! We hope that the challenges we have set ourselves will make you think it is worth supporting us yet again.
We started on the 10th May at the Knowle fun run. Louise completed in the year 3 and 4 race. Ted completed his first 5 mile race in 47 minutes. Catherine pushed Sophie around the 5 mile in a respectable 61 minutes! Sophie loved the applause and cheering and waved to people on the way round!
The following week, Ted completed his first 10k and the'girls' completed a 5k. It was a very wet day and Louise got very wet and cold watching Ted and waiting for the 5k so did well to manage the 5k, albeit slowly!
Then on June 7th it was the return of the chickens for the Acorns Chicken run and Catherine ran the half marathon. It was another wet day, but luckily the rain stopped just as the races started.
In July Catherine ran the Birmingham Black Country canal half marathon, which seemed more 'fun' than last year. As the school summer holidays really limited the training opportunities we made the most of cliff top runs in Cornwall whilst on holiday. Catherine even ran the Trelissick Estate10k on the final evening of our holiday!
Ted achieved his greatest challenge be in September when he ran the Great North run in 2 hours 13 minutes despite his man flu and his 'lengthy' TV interview. Like a good wife I followed in his footsteps and came in 7 minutes later !
A few weeks after that Catherine will run the Birmingham Half marathon and our final runs will be the Acorns uni 5k and family 2k . ( we may do a santa run in December as well, but that is just for fun and to provide Ted with another dressing up opportunity)
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Acorns Children's Hospice Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now!
