Story

Hello Everyone,

This year from 15 to 24 October 2010, I will be trekking up the highest free standing mountain in the world, Mt Kilimanjaro. I will be climbing it not only to reach the summit, but also to raise money for the charity SCOPE (supporting those with cerebral palsy.)

It's no wonder, given the number of people that have climbed Killi over the past century and the ways in which they have done it, that so many people believe it's a doddle. You'd be forgiven for thinking the same.

You'd be forgiven, but you'd be wrong!

These stories of success tend to receive alot of media coverage but also obscure the tragedy that often goes with them. During the Millennium celebrations, 7000 people stood on the mountain slopes during New years week (1000 on New Years Eve alone!) Barely a mention was made that over a third of them never reached even close to the summit, another 33 had to be rescued and 3 people died!  Not exactly a doddle.....

Please give generously to support our trip.

Thanks,

Rob.
