RIDE OF A LIFETIMEto mark my 60th Birthday
6th-21st June 2009
I will be undertaking the biggest challenge of my life – cycling 1000 miles from LANDS END to JOHN O’GROATS. That is about 85 miles a day -the length and breadth of the UK, over the hills of Cornwall and Devon, via the Wye Valley, Manchester, the lake District, the borders of Northumbria and Cumbria, and finally the hills of the Scottish Lowlands and Highlands.
My charity is St Raphael’s Hospice. The Hospice provided wonderful care for my mother, and Debbie and Louise's Grandma, Irene Nathan, during the last weeks of her life, and is a cause reliant on financial support from the community. I have pledged to raise £30,000. I’d like to make it £60,000
I will be cycling with Rosie Chapman, a 21 year old potential Olympian sailor, together with three friends, and my daughter Debbie, who will join me on the last leg, from Edinburgh to John O’Groats.
I know that times are tough right now. But the needs of the Hospice will not decrease. Please give as generously as you can
