Hey, welcome to my fundraising page.

I am really excited to be running the London Marathon this year, as it's something I've wanted to do for as long as I can remember.

I have chosen to run for ASPIRE, an amazing charity that works for those affected by spinal cord injury...

A spinal cord injury can happen to anyone at any time: one minute you're fine and then something happens, either at home, on the road or on the sports field, and you're being told you'll never walk again.

There is no cure and no way to reverse the damage. And losing the ability to walk is just the tip of the iceberg: on top of the physical problems, the mental trauma that occurs can be severe, affecting every aspect of your life from famly to work to your basic independence.

ASPIRE believes in a realistic approach to spinal cord injuries. They are a practical, hands-on organisation that aims to create opportunity, choice and independence for people with spinal cord injuries all over the UK with an in-depth programme of rehabilitation, reintigration and research.

I also have a personal affiliation with ASPIRE through my younger brother, Aaron. If you've met him before there's a good chance you haven't forgotten about him, but if you haven't, allow me to fill you in...

Aaron was born with cerebral palsy, affecting his legs and making it difficult for him to walk. Over the past four years, he has discovered great success and purpose from playing wheelchair basketball. His team, Force, are based at ASPIRE's National Training Centre, where he trains between 5 and 7 times a week and plays competitively in a national league. He is also part of the Great Britain Under 23 squad and has represented his country in international tournaments. Aaron's ultimate ambition is to win a gold medal at a Paralympic Games.

ASPIRE has already played a huge part in Aaron's success and development, and it gives me great pride to support them with their work, in order to help so many people, including Aaron, achieve their goals.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: ASPIRE gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

Thanks

Rob
