Story

Rob’s Cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats 2008

To celebrate becoming an OAP, I plan this year to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats starting on May 17th and completing the journey on the 31st.

The total distance, using B roads is 1,015 miles which I plan to do with 20 other members of the CTC (Cycling Touring Club)

My nominated Charity is the Motor Neurone Disease Association, chosen because a Magistrate friend was recently diagnosed and two members of my local cycling club recently died as a result of the illness.

The mission statement of the MND reads: We will fund and promote research to bring about an end to MND. Until then, we will do all that we can to enable everyone with MND to receive the best care, achieve the highest quality of life possible, and die with dignity. We will also do all that we can to support the families and carers of people with MND.

It is the specific wish of my friend that all the money raised from my cycle will be directed towards research to bring about an end to MND.

Cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats will not only provide me with a challenge and memorable experience but also raise funds for a most deserving cause and specifically to help bring closer the day when the world is free of MND.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Motor Neurone Disease Association will receive your money faster and if you are a taxpayer an extra 28% in Tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks

Rob
