9 Edges Endurance · 5 September 2008

The Edale Mountain Rescue Team (EMRT) is a Registered Charity providing a Search and Rescue Service for the moorland and upland areas of the Peak District National Park. It is staffed entirely by unpaid volunteers and is self funding.

Story

Hey Everybody!!!

The job is quite simple.  A twenty mile hike from Ladybower Reservoir to Baslow in the Peak District.  The route passes along nine Gritstone Edges, namely: Derwent, Stanage, Burbage North, Burbage South, Froggat, Curbar, Baslow, Gardoms & Birchen.

For the climbers among us, one route must be completed at each Edge passed.  That means bringing Big Balls (for climbing without ropes) or Big Rucksacks (for ropes and gear.... obviously).  Everyone else is along for the ride, and to call Mountain Rescue when the climbers stuff up!!

Sponsorship goes to said Mountain Rescue, specifically Edale Mountain Rescue Team.

Given that some of us are in a decrepid state of injury/unfitness/both this could present a moderate challenge so a bit of Cashola will no doubt make us try that little bit harder...

Thank you
