Macmillan Caring Locally works in partnership with the NHS to fund the Macmillan Unit, a Hospice and specialist palliative care unit at Christchurch Hospital in Dorset. Please note that we are not connected in any way to the national charity Macmillan Cancer Support.

Story

As promised, I did not let any of you down... I left Samphire Hoe Beach near Dover at 1445 on Thu 24 Sep 09 and arrived on the Cap on the French Coast at 0335 taking 12 hours and 50 minutes.

For those who have sponsored, supported, motivated and enthused me, I would like to say a big thank you from the bottom of my heart and if you are yet to donate, its never to late to make it!

Background

Unfortunately my Gran passed away on the 2nd Jan 09 after losing her long, bravely fought battle with cancer. She was of strong character and managed to live in reasonable comfort thanks to her loving family and dedication of the medical profession, in particular the kindness and devotion shown by her MacMillan nurse.

In memory of my Grandmother and to show my appreciation for the services provided by the MacMillan Trust I wish to raise funds through my personal efforts which will be supported by sponsorship and donations to assist the Trust to continue to provide their excellent services to others in need.
