Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone.

Story

Many, many thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

In a moment of madness, I have agreed to take part in a sponsored zipwire across the River Tyne on the 1st November 2009. This involves being suitably harnessed, attached to a large steel rope and careering from the Tyne Bridge on the Newcastle side to Baltic square on the other, a distance of nearly 300 metres. I lift-off at 1pm and pray that I impact (softly) on terra firma some 40 secs later. I'll be travelling at around 30mph some 30 metres above the River Tyne.

Any donation you decide to make, no matter how small, is very greatly appreciated.

Your donation will make a real difference:

£20 - Pays for a Marie Curie Nurse for one hour in the home

£30 - Buys a slide sheet used by Marie Curie Nurses to move patients in bed.

£125 - Would pay for attendance at a Day Therapy unit for one day in a Marie Curie hospice.

£160 - Pays for a full shift for a Marie Curie Nurse in the patient's home.

£400 - Pays for Marie Curie Cancer Care's contribution to the cost of caring for an in-patient in a hospice for a day.

£800 - Supports a team of scientists for a day at the Marie Curie Research Institute.

£3,000 -  Would pay the drug bill for one week at a Marie Curie hospice.

Thanks again for viewing
