Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

On 27th July we are taking on the 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for the St Kentigern Hospice. In memory of our Uncle : Nick Hewitt.

We've now completed our 3 Peak's Challenge ! We did it with just 12 minutes to spare!

The weather was awful, heavy rain and strong winds really slowed us down and we were glad to see the finish line at Snowdon.

This is a link to our videos of the challenge:

Our Time Line :

17:06 - Start at the foot of Ben Nevis, a little late because it kept raining and we were taking our water proofs off and on.

19:26 - Reach the summit of Ben Nevis, highest point in Britain! There was something else there too, but that stays between the 3 Peakers.

21:19 - Finish Ben Nevis, have a very quick change & bite to eat.

22:00 - Leave Scotland and head to Scafell Pike - 6hrs drive ahead.

22:30 - How & Karl turn green with travel sickness. It was a very dodgy road from Fort William to Glasgow.

04:05 - Arrive at Scafell Pike, we had changed in the mini bus, so it was straight out and on the way up.

05:00 - Get lost on Scafell, we've lost the path and are wandering in the dark and thick mist.

05:30 - Simon finds the path, we're back on our way.

06:10 - Reach summit, weather is awful, thick mist and heavy rain.

07:55 - Finish Scafell and we're glad to see the back of that mountain..... it was really tough.

08:30 - Leave Scafell and head to Snowdon.

10:30 - Services, the sensible ones bought a healthy sandwich, How, Karl & Gaz had a burger king. Personally I was feeling so sick I was glad to keep something down.

13:10 - Arrive at Pen Y Pass car park Snowdon. Conditions are dreadful, heavy rain/ sleet and very strong winds.

15:10 - Reach summit of Snowdon, to say it was tough is a huge understatement. Winds over 100mph, driving rain. We were worried about getting down safe.

16:55 - Finally we finish ! We're greeted by champagne, but are so we and exhausted we just want our beds.

None of us though it would be so tough, but we all loved it.

Wednesday 09:00 - Rod & How clean out the mini bus and find dead skin and toe nails ..... Come own up

Why did we do it ?

Nick was always telling us we shouldn't be sitting watching TV (unless the cricket was on) or playing video games, we should be out walking enjoying nature. Well we're finally going to listen to him.

As well as the three of us, we have 8 friends supporting us every bit of the way, The Full Cast :

Karl Sinclair, Les Jones, Ray Seymore, Dave Clarke, Gareth Ogle, Tim Brookes ,Mathew Brelsford ,Simon Ricketts

and just as important our 2 member support team:

Driver 1 : Mark Hewitt (our dad & Nick' brother)

Driver 2 : Richard Roberts (our newest edition)

We will climb the 3 highest mountains in Scotland, England & Wales in 24hrs :

Ben Nevis - 1344mts

Snowdon - 1085mts

Scafell Pike - 978mts

Nick spent his last few days in the St Kentigerns Hospice and the care he received there and the support given to the family by the staff was outstanding. The Hospice isn't trying to change the world, it's just making a very sick persons last days as comfortable as possible. It struck us that you never know when you may need help like this. So we were motivated to give something back and that's were you come in. If you would like to donate the details are below.

We'd love to reach our target of £1000.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: St Kentigern Hospice gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thank you for your support.
