My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

It just so happens that the start of the Army Ornithological Society's sponsorship of the Whinchat Survey on Salisbury Plain and the Reading Half Marathon occur on 1 Apr 2012.  April Fool's Day - and you can read whatever you like into that! Those that know me will understand my reasons for running on behalf of the British Trust for Ornithology - as a way of financially contributing directly to the survey and study of British bird life - and in this case specifically, of Whinchats.  But the BTO is also an organisation for which I have considerable respect, in its purpose, motivation and in the dedication of its staff. In many ways I see a similar ethos to that which I have enjoyed throughout a lifetime in the Army - but without the uniform and bangs.

So you're not sponsoring me but you've probably been selected because you share a lot of my values and hopefully a care for the future of British birds..

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
