Shaving Roger's beard off! · 20 September 2016

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Dad's JustGiving page.

My Dad was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's. My Mum and Dad have been going along to the Parkinson's support group in Denton, which they have both really enjoyed and found beneficial. My Dad decided that he wants to give something back to the charity that has been helping him come to terms with his condition.

My Dad's beard is precious to him (not sure why, he's the one I get my looks off!), so precious in fact that he can remember that he first grew his beard in September 1966!

As we're coming up to his beard's 50th anniversary, he thought it would be a good time to shave it off for charity!

Ever since I was a child, I've asked my Dad to shave it off, which he has always flatly refused to do. As a family we've told him that if he doesn't shave it off, then we'll shave it off when he's in his coffin! Now I will finally get to see him clean shaven, without having to resort to macabre methods!

Please don't underestimate what this will mean to my Dad; he struggles when he's not in a routine yet he's about to become unrecognisable to himself. He really wants to top £500, so please everyone dig deep for a deserving cause.
