The Seven Hills of Edinburgh Challenge · 15 June 2012

SportsAid Scotland gives grant awards to talented sporting youngsters in the 12 - 22 age range and to disability athletes of all ages who have the potential to compete for Scotland. The awards assist the athletes with their expenses, thereby helping them to become Scotland's future sporting stars.

Story

Having run 33 marathons for Children 1st (RSSPCC) from 1982-2003, I am now bowing to my advancing age (70 next year) by tackling the more leisurely Seven Hills of Edinburgh Challenge on Sunday 17 June - a mere 14.5 miles with 2,200 ft of climb - to raise funds for Scottish Sports Aid Trust.

SSAT is a charity that provides financial support to aspiring young Scottish athletes in the 12-22 age-group, including disability athletes, to help them get onto the ladder of success.

So, please sponsor me for this very good cause.  Many thanks.  Ronnie

STOP PRESS  Have now completed the run in 3 hrs 26 mins, a little longer than planned due to the atrocious underfoot conditions that required numerous detours from the normal route, and lengthened my run to 15.5 miles.  But one consolation was winning the prize for the oldest runner! (see pic 3 below).
