Since Christmas Cavendish Cancer Care have been the victim of repeated lead thefts from its roof. The latest one has seen a large amount of lead facing and flashing stolen, leading to the roof leaking inside the building.
Unfortunately, the cost of the repair could run into thousands of pounds. Cavendish need to address this issue quickly in order to carry on providing services to cancer patients and their families. During these difficult economic times Cavendish are constantly reliant on the generosity of local people to support its work and the cost of these thefts is an expense Cavendish can ill afford.
Because of the theft and the damage caused by the thieves, we need to carry extensive repairs and replace the stolen lead with a comparable modern replacement, which is a little more expensive but has no scrap value.
For over 20 years, Cavendish Cancer Care has been providing care, support and complementary therapies to cancer patients and their familes. Although the care that Cavendish provides is recognised in national cancer plans as something all patients should have access to, direct NHS funding is very limited. The generosity of local people supporting fundraising events and making donations ensures care is there for people at the time they need it the most.
Please give whatever you can.
