Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-shortening genetic condition that slowly destroys the lungs and digestive system. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only UK-wide charity fighting for a life unlimited, when everyone living with CF can look forward to a long, healthy life. www.cysticfibrosis.org.uk

Story

On the 17 April this year I shall be joining the mad rush of athletes trying to keep ahead of a guy in a Deep sea diver's outfit...... Sam, my son who is 6, suffers from Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and I would like to help raise funds for the CF Trust in their effort to help find a cure for CF. Sam continues to be an inspiration as he has a 100% zest for life that includes extensive physio, medication and hospital treatment.
As I will be celebrating my 40th Birthday a few days before the Marathon it is a poignant reminder that the average survival in the UK for those with CF is 31 years.

Both the CF Trust, myself & Sam would gratefully appreciate your support and sponsorship. Should you require any more details or find out how my sporadic training is coming along, then please contact me on 02392 455966. Thank you very much for your generosity, Mark Roonan

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cystic Fibrosis Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the UK's only national charity working to fund research into a cure and to ensure appropriate clinical care and support for people with cystic fibrosis (CF). CF is the UK's most common life-threatening inherited disease. It is caused by a defective gene, leading to a thick, sticky mucus that obstructs the airways, the digestive system and other organs, resulting in chronic infections and inflammation in the lungs and difficulty digesting food and nutrients.
