Story
Hi there,
Well here it finally is, proof I crossed the finish line last month! If you haven't already heard I did it in 4 hours 0 minutes and 55 seconds. Can't help but be a wee bit annoyed that I missed my under 4 hours target by less than a minute, but hey, at least I made it! Position wise that's 11416th out of 31794 folk and 9783rd out of 23353 men which I'm happy enough with.
Anyway it was a good day even if the weather was really pretty nasty. I really enjoyed the first half, infact I was loving it right up until about 18 miles when I started to feel a bit sick. I think a lack of sweating due to the weather being cool and possibly taking on a little more liquid than usual was to blame. I can honestly say that my legs were quite happy right up to the end, but feeling sick and knowing you have another few miles to run is not the most pleasant feeling in the world! The last 3 miles felt like they took 4 hours alone!
In a nutshell, fantastic experience, amazing crowd/support from everyone and something I won't forget in a hurry. I'll not be in the line next year though, don't know if I'll ever do another one, but who knows!
Thanks so much for all your sponsorship and encouragement and hope to hear from you all soon.
Cheers
Rory
P.S. Anyone up for this Sport Relief biggest 1 mile event on the 10th July? You don't have to run it!
