VSO is the world’s leading independent international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries. VSO's high-impact approach involves bringing people together to share skills, build capabilities, promote international understanding and action, and change lives to make the world a fairer place for all. Everyday around 1,500 VSO volunteers are working in carefully selected placements, sharing their and experience and working to tackle poverty by empowering those really affected by it.

In september I will be leaving sunny scotland to work for VSO somewhere in Africa, Asia or the Pacific for a year. VSO believes that sharing skills changes lives, equating to long term sustainable development. I will be working in the goal area of participation and governance, helping to insure that the voices of some of the most marginalized people in the world are heard. It costs VSO approximately 20, 000 pounds to send me away for a year, so i'm trying to raise 900 pounds as a contribution towards that cost. All money will go directly to VSO to fund various projects around the world. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure.
