Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
I've wanted to run the London Marathon for ages, so I jumped at an opportunity to enter this year. But with less than 8 weeks to go I need your help! I've chosen to run for the Jesuit Missions. Their projects help improve the lives of some of the poorest people in the world in some of the most dangerous parts of the world; most notably in Zimbabwe. At the moment, the people in the cities and rural areas are starving as there is no food and almost 10% of the population has been made homeless as the government has bulldozed homes and markets.
The particular Jesuit Mission project which I would like to support is that of the running of the New Makumbi Children's Home in Zimbabwe. In 1997 Jesuit Missions provided over £32,000 to help set up this orphanage.
Previously this was a dormitory style home with over 100 orphan children, many of them as a result of their parents dying from AIDS. The new Orphanage now consists of eight 'homes' each holding up to twelve children with one employed mother to look after them.
With the increasing burden of large numbers of orphans, and the country in financial crisis, funds are used up rapidly caring and educating these children.
£200 would pay for a child for over 12 months
£15 would pay for a child for a month.
So even just a small donation from you can make a real difference to a child's life.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Trustees for Roman Catholic Purposes will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
