96.3 Radio Aire and Magic 828's Cash for Kids, formerly Kids Count Trust, is a grant giving charity, working with radio stations Radio Aire and Magic 828, to raise funds for sick, disabled and underprivileged children in West Yorkshire. All monies raised stays in the local area. Radio Aire and Magic 828's Cash for Kids raised over £62,000 in 2007/08 and with your support aim to double that in 2008/09.

Our personal message:

WE DID IT!!!

And I think we had 3 very different experiences... I struggled and did it through gritted teeth... Suzanne danced along to the music for quite a lot of it.. and Ian was the celebrity of the group, if we'd got a pound for every time we heard "There's the Tin Man!" we'd have got through the £2k mark on our total!  Tanny Gray Thompson shouted "Come on Tin Man" at the water station!

What an AMAZING day... we'd high fived Rebecca Addlington and Chris Hoy before we'd got over the start line, the red arrows did their air display just as we reached the top of the hill to see the sea!  Total carnival atmosphere, people out of their houses cheering us on... amazing (the roads are HARD though!)

Ian left Suzanne and me at 11 miles and sprinted to the end to get a good time; Suzanne was being uplifting and motivational to a very grumpy, gritted teeth Dorothy. 

It was an AWESOME day... if you want to take on a challenge there can be no better place than the Great North to do it  ...we passed a man with a freezer on his back, several people pushing wheelchairs, one man who had obviously injured himself in training so he was doing it on crutches.  So, it was hard (the roads were literally very hard), we didnt stop, we didnt walk up hills, we ran it all.  And after a cup of hot chocolate when asked if we'd do it again ...it was a case of "well never say never again".

MASSIVE THANKYOU to everyone who has sponsored us... no matter what we were going to get over that finish line to make sure we collected all the money for Cash for Kids - and what an amazing total... just under £1600
