Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

Amnesty International UK is movement of ordinary people standing up for humanity and human rights. Some of our campaigns includes refugees, climate change, children's rights, women's rights, and conflict-affected countries. When we unite even the smallest acts of humanity make a difference.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page! Yes, I did it! It was a glorious day and the crowds were fantastic as everyone said they would be! I even survived without blisters or cramp! A really positive experience all round. I will be keeping this website active for a couple of months in case anyone wants to sponsor me still, including those sceptics who needed proof!!

My target was £1750 but reaching £2000 would be even better!

It would be wonderful if you could help me raise some money for this fantastic cause supporting human rights worldwide ! Although the money raised will go to help Amnesty's work in general, Amnesty International UK has asked people running in the London Marathon this year to choose a specific campaign to highlight and I have chosen the very brave human rights activists of WOZA in Zimbabwe. When I lived in Malawi I visited Zimbabwe several times when it was the "grain basket" of Southern  Africa, full of potential, and it is so sad to see what has happened there. If you wish to take action on behalf of the women of WOZA or find out more about them please follow the links I have added
You can find out more about Amnesty's campaign here. You could listen to Jenni Williams, national coordinator of Women of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA), talking about the struggle for human rights in Zimbabwe.
You can also find out more about WOZA at their website.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Amnesty International UK Section Charitable Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now if you can! Thank you in advance for helping me reach my goal and supporting Amnesty: it is very much appreciated!
