A fantastic day for everyone made even better by our fantastic supporters along the route.

Huge thanks to the guys for running. If their legs are feeling like mine are this morning, I doubt there'll be many of us rushing into our next marathon!

And thanks to everyone who sponsored us, raising over £25k (before Gift Aid) for 2 great charities.

Ross says thanks...

Karl

Our second son Ross was born in May 2008 suffering from a severe and rare form of epilepsy which caused him to have several seizures every day. After about 6 weeks and with Ross's seizures peaking at about 80 per day, the doctors finally tried a combination of drugs which managed to control his seizures and we were allowed to take Ross home. His seizures remain under control, but the greater challenge Ross is facing is as his brain activity is permanently 'chaotic', his mental development has been very limited. At 22 months he has yet to roll-over or sit up. His head control is pretty minimal and his eyesight is rubbish.  But he has a great smile!

Having Ross has opened our eyes to the whole sub-culture of people who everyday face serious health and development problems with their kids, something most people are unaware of until they're forced into it. Charities are an invaluable source of support and help to the many families with sick kids and The Children's Trust (www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk)provide help for kids with multiple diabilities, complex health needs and aquired brain injuries. Without donations they will have to reduce the amount of support they supply, and which many families depend on.

During summer 2009 my friend Richard and I raised money for the National Society for Epilepsy (www.epilepsysociety.org.uk)by climbing (see www.archiesmountain.com) but for 2010 I wanted to do something for kids with severe learning disabilities, reflecting the shift in priority of Ross's problems. My good friends Craig Clarkson and Dave Phillips were very easy to persuade to tackle another marathon this time in aid of Ross. London 2010 won't be their first marathon as it will be for me, but it'll be a big challenge for all of us regardless. Two other friends, Ross Arnott and Graham Cruden, will also be tackling the marathon, this time in aid of the National Society for Epilepsy - you can access their fundraising page at www.justgiving.com/ross2010epilepsy

You can donate through JustGiving in the confidence that your details are secure with them. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

You can also help by entering our sweepstake to win 2 tickets plus hotel for the Heineken Cup Final to be held in Paris on 20th May 2010 (www.justgiving.com/131milesinhowlong).

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thanks,

Karl Donnan
