We have decided to run the 2013 London Marathon in aid of the Alzheimers Society, which supports people living with dementia today as scientists search for a cure for tomorrow. It is a cause that is close to our hearts because in 2006 our mum, Beth, was diagnosed with Pick's disease, a rare form of early onset dementia similar in many ways to Alzheimer's. We feel it is important that we raise awareness of how dementia can impact families because more and more people today are now suffering from different forms of dementia. 

 

When we signed up it was hoped that Mum would be there to cheer us on at the marathon. Sadly, this was not to be. We discovered Mum had liver cancer in September and, after a short illness, she passed away just before Christmas. Although it has been a sad time for the family, what has happened has made us even more determined to reach a really solid fundraising total.

 

The Alzheimer's Society does great work and we would like to raise as much money as we can to help them, so please dig deep. We really appreciate you giving your hard earned cash to this cause, and can assure you all that we're going to be fit and raring to go come the big day in April.
