Fantastic news I set out from Girvan on Saturday morning 12 September at 6.30 am on the boat heading for Ailsa Craig. I started the swim at 8.20 am on a beautiful morning, accompanied from the start by a large dog seal – Big Ed.
It was a long grueling swim but I was supported by the crew (Buster and Alan), the two Harry’s and Marlene and the wildlife (porpoise, dolphin, basking shark and Big Ed).
At 16.47 I arrived on Girvan beach to a rapturous, very emotional welcome from family, friends, supporters, drumming group and piper Andy. The swim took 8 hours 27 minutes and 44 seconds to be precise and the crew have estimated that due to tide changes I in fact swam 17.5 miles.
A big thanks to everyone who has supported me over past few years.
The swim is complete, but the fundraising goes on – so keep an eye out for upcoming events. Any questions phone Ros 07855949901/Suzanne 07824595425.
Hello my name is Ros and I am planning to swim from Ailsa Craig to Girvan beach in aid of Alzheimer Scotland. The swim will take place on 15 August 2009.

The idea is for us to raise as much money as possible for our local branch of Alzheimer Scotland. We are planning a series of fundraising events across the region, so check out the diary link.
We are hoping to get others involved in swimming along the way. In 2009 we will be organising sponsor sheets so you can join in and swim the equivalent distance in your local pool. All you need to do is keep track of the lengths you have done over time and ask a life guard to sign it. We are asking that you complete 10 miles and it doesn't matter how long it takes you. Let me know if you think this is a good idea and if you are interested in becoming involved.
On Saturday 9 May my training support in the pool - Stranraer Stingrays, got together and swam 30 miles in total and raised an amazing £1780 to boost our total.
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
