Story

Rothesay Golf Club Defibrillator Fundraising Campaign

Rothesay Golf Club is partnering with AEDdonate to raise funds for an external defibrillator to be installed on-site. This life-saving device will be accessible to members, visitors, and the wider community in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).

Why a Defibrillator at Rothesay Golf Club is So Important

Each year in the UK, over 30,000 people experience a sudden cardiac arrest outside of hospital. Survival rates remain low, with fewer than 1 in 10 people surviving.

In these situations, every minute is critical. Without immediate CPR and defibrillation, survival chances decrease by around 10% per minute. Early intervention with CPR and a defibrillator can dramatically improve outcomes.

Despite this, public access defibrillators are used in only around 9% of cases, highlighting the importance of making these devices more widely available in community spaces like Rothesay Golf Club.

Having a defibrillator on-site could make a vital, life-saving difference before emergency services arrive.

How a Defibrillator Will Help the Community

Once installed, the defibrillator will be registered with the local ambulance service and available for use 24/7.

It doesn’t replace emergency services but provides immediate support in those crucial first minutes while help is on the way. The faster a shock can be delivered, the greater the chance of survival.
