We provide compassionate hospice care to improve quality of life right to the end

Story

Thank you for visiting my just giving page.

On Dec 6th 2009 Richard Hoyland and myself will be rowing 3000 miles from La Gomera to Antigua in the Woodvale Atlantic rowing challenge.

We have been training and preparing for nearly two years and will be leaving the UK on the 20th November to join our boat in La Gomera, Tenerife.

This is going to be a tough challenge and we will have to dig deep if we are going to succeed.

We will be totally self-sufficient taking all our food with us and making our own drinking water along the way. The voyage may take anything from 40 to 90 days. The weather will ultimately decide upon how long the voyage will take.

We are raising funds for the Princess Alice Hospice in Esher which I found an obvious choice of charity to work for. My late father-in-law was referred to the hospice after having battled cancer for some 4 years.

I visited the hospice and was quite amazed at the facility and service they provide.

Their care and support network was simply amazing and it is reassuring to know that such a facility is available. The caring nature of the nurses helped not only my father-in-law but my family cope during these traumatic and distressing times.

If you need an excuse to fund a charity then perhaps our challenge may be worthy of a little support, however large or small.

Please support us along the way. Our progress across the seas can be monitored via our web site, www.rowacrossthepond.co.uk and we would love to receive your messages of support.

Thank you

Steve Coe

At Princess Alice Hospice, we provide exceptional end of life care in our hospice and in the community. We know we can’t prevent death, but we do whatever we possibly can to make it the best it possibly can be. But, above all, we believe that hospice care is for living.
