A new library in Uganda

Founded in 2007, Justice Defenders is a movement from all walks of life. We’re equipping the accused. Informing the indicted. Educating the incarcerated. And taking the law to the margins of society to uproot the unjust.

Story

Thanks for visiting our fund-raising page.

This page represents Rowan Emslie (19), Rowan Hunter(19). We're in our gap years and are currently in Kampala volunteering with APP - see www.kingston-grammar.surrey.sch.uk and look for blogs regarding our process so far.

The furniture for the library started to get made in late February 2009 and we hope to get all the legal details out the way during March 2009 so we can start the building work in earnest. We still desperately need funds for operational costs, buying materials and for ensuring the quality of our work. We have also decided to build a classroom that will allow those who wish to study for examines (everything from literacy to Undergraduate Degrees) have a good place to do so.

Any donations are welcome, no matter how small or large. I have set three rough levels of donations (as seen on my flickr photo link) but do not be put off if they seem to high, any donation helps the project move forward and will be gratefully received.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: African Prisons Project gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
