The Ear Foundation helped fund the first cochlear implants for deaf children in the UK. We now support children, young people & adults who use a variety of modern hearing technologies. Offering independent advice & activites to bridge the gap between clinics where they're fitted and home where used.

Story

I will be undertaking a three month charity bicycle ride this summer with two other engineering students from Exeter University. The ride will take us across the USA, from coast to coast and the total mileage is over 4200miles. We will be doing the ride unsupported, which means that we’ll be carrying our food, drink, tents and clothes with us as we go. The aim is to finish within 80 days and in order to do this we will have to travel 70miles per day.

The charity that I am raising money for is called The Ear Foundation. I have two profoundly deaf first cousins and they have made me aware of the difficulties associated with being deaf. The Ear Foundation carries out research into new hearing technologies as well as offering help and support to those that are deaf. This small charity has helped my cousins to live happy and independent lives and their work is most worthwhile.

Wish me luck and many thanks if you feel able to sponsor me
