Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am going to cycle from to via : 270kms over 3 days in aid of two charities I haven’t cycled for over 40 years, have only the most rudimentary knowledge of how to cycle outside a gym, and this is the first time I’ve ever ridden a bike with gears. Not only will I have to train to develop the stamina to cycle for three days, but I will also have to overcome my fear of cycling on a road, work out how to mount my bicycle which is the size of a small horse and how to stop it when my feet don't touch the ground. For those who want to check on my progress, I am writing a blog of my preparations and progress, and I hope you’ll join me (in cyberspace) on my journey. Go to http://un-easyrider.blogspot.com/ The two charities are The Red Cross campaign to help Orphans and Vulnerable Children in In the Kwa Zulu Natal region of one in five children between 2-18 years old has lost one or both parents as a result of HIV and AIDS. Money raised for the British Red Cross will have an immediate and dramatic effect on these children who live in indescribable poverty. The British Red Cross is helping to rebuild their lives and give them a future. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Back here in the there are 350,000 children who are living with the constant pain and dangers of type 1 diabetes. JDRF exists to find a cure for type 1 diabetes and is the world's leading charitable provider of funds for type 1 diabetes research. For 30 years it has been involved in the delivery of advances in this field, and it also provides practical support and information for families affected by the condition. Two great causes; two great charities; but both need your help to make life better for thousands of children and young people. The JDRF video at http://www.thewellingtonappeal.org/video-gallery.asp?play=3 and the Red Cross video at http://www.thewellingtonappeal.org/video-gallery.asp?play=2 will give you some idea of how important your donation is.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
