Hi All

Me and Adam will be taking part in the Great North Run on the 20th September 2009. Adam will be running and due to injury I will be jogging.

This year we will be taking part to raise money and awareness for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust. 

We will be running/jogging/walking in memory of my cousin Gary Chaplin who last October, after 41 years of living with Cysitc Fibrosis passed away. 

Cousin Gary was a wonderful man, a great father, husband and son who lived life to the full every day. We would like to raise money to honor his memory and help research into Cysicic Fibrosis.Since the foundation of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust in 1964, there have been huge developments in medical knowledge and research of the disease.

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is one of the UK's most common life-threatening inherited diseases. It affects over 8,000 people in the UK and over two million people in the UK carry the faulty gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis.

Cystic Fibrosis affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick sticky mucus. This makes it hard to breathe and digest food.

Each week, five babies are born with Cystic Fibrosis and three young lives are lost to Cystic Fibrosis.

Around half of the CF population can expect to live over 35 years, although improvements in treatments mean a baby born today could expect to live even longer.
