UPDATE – Post Flight Briefing (donations still taken - thank you)

I DID IT!!! Amazing flight 11.2 metres, Thank for all your support, I was bloody nervous in the lead up to the whole event but in the end my concerns proved unnecessary and it was a good day out. I can report that I woke up Monday feeling absolutely fine, which I have to say is a result. Hopefully the remains of the craft have been salvaged and the black box will provide a detailed breakdown of its final (and first) flight – check out the photos and video!

The Story
Not for me the normal running, cycling, no I decided to jump off Worthing Pier, (and I am not keen on heights)

Ann-Marie wanted an event to launch Sparks in the South East. During a meeting of First Friday Network, Worthing together with Tony we hatched the idea

The Team

·         Tony Hedger, A&T Business Associates, - organiser of First Friday network, entry sponsor and funder for the harness and materials

·         Keith Colin, Beesknees Photography, recording it for posterity

·         Andy Saigeman, Covers of Bognor, supplier of the wood for the plane

·         Kirsty Frampton and Adam Scrase, Northbrook Aeronautical Students, designers and builders, (they will not be bribed to change places, they will do the launching/pushing!)

·         Ann-Marie Blackman, Sparks SE Community Fundraiser, putting it together and convincing us all ‘we can do it’

·         Me – Roy Thompson, Clydesdale Bank, the banker who has taken on the challenge to be pushed, sorry launched off the pier

Among the many Sparks researches, the one at Brighton and Sussex Medical School into eczema was close to Tony and my heart. We both have children who have suffered with this debilitating illness, resulting in being wet wrapped at night to reduce pain and bleeding, heartbreaking to see your own children go through this.  Adam has also suffered from eczema, and knows how if can effect what you do.

Monies donated on this site will go to this project to help future childrens sleep easier

This is no longer a jump, this is a flight!

I need your support, please give to a fantastic charity that really needs your help and makes a difference!

Thank you very very much – Roy
