Fighting Muscular Dystrophy for Kerr

Virtual Edinburgh Marathon Festival Full Marathon 2021 · 30 May 2021 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Kerr was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in 2015. This is a rare and progressive muscle wasting condition that will see his mobility gradually deteriorate. Where he will solely be reliant on a wheelchair.
Later on, as the condition worsens. He will eventually lose the use of his arms and will then one day rely on a ventilator just breathe. People with this condition unfortunately don't live long, and their life expectancy is around the early 20's. It is unfortunate that the condition is so unpredictable, that people have died much, much younger.
Currently, there is no cure, but there is a drug which is in the early stages of trial which will slow the progression down, and this is the reason why we help fund the research.
Now Kerr is doing very well. He only uses his wheelchair for long distances, and just like any other kid. He lives life to the fullest! This family and friends want to try and keep it that way for as long as possible. This is the reason for raising money for Kerr's Cause.
All money raised will be allocated to the Dunchenne Research Breakthrough Fund, a branch of MDUK which fund research for Kerr's condition.
