At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Well it appears that the Great North Run last October has given me a bug for running!  So here I am, very scared, preparing for The New York marathon.  The countdown has begun ...

Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page.  My Dad has lived with Alzheimer's for the last 7 years, hence the choice of my charity.  Dementia is sadly on the rise within younger people, Dad was just 52 years old when he was diagnosed.  But, more importantly, he is living with it brilliantly and is the inspiration behind my running.  We will be running the Great North Run together again at the end of September.  It is a combination of his determination and my experience of Alzheimer's over the last 7 years that has spurred me on to raise money for and the awareness of dementia in younger people.  Hopefully I will be organising a theatre themed event later in the year to achieve this, but news on that will come shortly.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

I really appreciate any support you're able to give.  The butterflies are starting and I will definitely let you all know how I get across the pond.  Thank you so much.

Love,

Bex
