Hey my name is Ruby.

I have pledged complete the Bogle RAG 26 mile walk all across Manchester to help fundraise to support the Islamic Relief Emergency Mediterranean refugee crisis appeal. This is my first ever challenge one I wish to complete In sha Allah with the support and help from my beautiful family and friends. 

Islamic relief have been proactively providing humanitarian aid
for the thousands of refugees as they embark on their journeys to
find safety and security.  With very few legal and safe routes overland, many thousands of refugees are embarking on perilous sea journeys...on flimsy and crowded dinghies, where they are risking– and losing – their lives in the attempt.

At least 2,000 people are thought to have died at sea so far this
year. It is not known how many others may be planning the dangerous voyage. Increasingly, women and children are among those endangered in what has become the worst refugee crisis since World War II.

In many places, local services are straining to meet the needs of
the vulnerable people arriving. Refugees are currently sheltered in hastily
established transit camps, run by local volunteers in Greece, Lesvos. Those that cannot be accommodated in the swelling camps are sleeping on the streets. All struggling to access basic services and essential items such as blankets and soap. As the crisis grows and deepens, Islamic Relief continues to support refugees in countries such as Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey and is also helping vulnerable people in European countries.

Understanding this current situation I do hope and pray that with the
support of my family & friends I am able to raise my target amount to help provide the practical support to our brothers and sisters in humanity that have faced immense hardship and suffering, and risked their lives and the lives of their loved ones to reach safer lands.

I just want to leave you with this quote ‘to give sadaqah (charity) without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity.” - hadith of the Prophet, peace be upon him, not only are we jointly helping those less fortunate than us but also rewarding ourselves by pleasing Allah swt and increasing in good deeds.
