The Mazda London Triathlon 2008* · 9 August 2008 to 10 August 2008 ·

Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a rare lung disease that only occurs in women. It affects just over one woman in a million. We are a self-help group providing support for patients with LAM and raise money for vital research - it is often difficult to obtain money for research into a rare disease.

Story

On the 10th of August I will swim 1.5km, cycle 40km and run 10km back to back in hopefully something like 2.5 hours to raise money for LAM Action.

My mum is one of the unlucky 120 women in the UK who has LAM and in the last few months I have discovered the unfortunate coincidence that another of the 120 works for my firm, Lehman Brothers, in London. LAM is a disease that has a potentially significant degenerative impact on lung function. It can be incredibly debilitating and ultimately in some cases fatal.

As a rare disease LAM is often overlooked for funding for research into either palliative care or even a cure and so LAM Action formed not only to provide support for each other but also raise money for research.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: LAM Action gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
