Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-shortening genetic condition that slowly destroys the lungs and digestive system. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only UK-wide charity fighting for a life unlimited, when everyone living with CF can look forward to a long, healthy life. www.cysticfibrosis.org.uk

Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

We are hoping to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust by doing the Birmingham half marathon on the 26th October 2008.  The run follows a 13 mile route beginning north of the city in Perry Barr, and finishing in Birmingham City Centre.

We recently lost our dear friend, Ben, to Cystic Fibrosis. He was 23 years old.

Cystic Fibrosis is an uncurable genetic disease and affects over 8,000 people in the UK. It affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick sticky mucus. This makes it hard to breathe and digest food.

Each week, three young lives are lost to Cystic Fibrosis. Average life expectancy is around 31 years.

The money raised will help continue the valuable genetic therapy research into finding a long term cure for CF.  It will also aid the healthcare of patients and treatment of more immediate symptoms.

So please sponsor us now!
