Virgin London Marathon 2013 · 21 April 2013 ·

We believe rhinos are magnificent. And they are endangered. To survive, they need a safe and diverse world. Yet today, they face immense threats. With your fundraising and donations, we can work alongside expert partners and move closer towards our vision: for all rhino species to thrive.

The shpeal:

The plight of the rhino is little reported in a lot of the world, and even then is sometimes dismissed as of lesser importance than other causes.  I am not here to argue that it is more, but to make people aware of how critical the situation is.

Last year saw the last Javan Rhino in Vietnam butchered and a record number of 668 poachings in South Africa, a 50% increase from 2011 and a 5000% increase from 2007.  There are currently approximately only 28,000 rhino left in the wild across Africa and Asia.

The fact remains that if nothing is done to prevent the upward trend in poaching, and the consequent decrease of rhino populations around the world, they will almost certainly not exist in the wild for the next generation, and some, like the Javan Rhino, of which only 50 remain, will not exist for us.

I cannot profess to being born a diehard rhino enthusiast, but having been able to experience these animals up close, and learn more about the threat they are under, the more it means to have people support us... If I can't convince you, perhaps these guys can:

Please donate to help support our cause, as little or as much as you can spare will make the training all the more bearable.

Thank you
