Event: Virgin London Marathon 2013, on 21 April 2013
In memory of Smudge Hearing Dog
We train amazing hearing dogs to transform the lives of deaf people

Story

I ran in the London Marathon in memory of my super hearing dog Smudge, who passed away recently. I'm also running in We Own The Night (18 April 2013) in London and abseiling down Senate House London (8 June 2013).

I was born profoundly deaf and this meant I was very isolated as I grew up. I was also scared of dogs. Smudge came into my life and changed it so much for the better. I made so many friends through him, he was my constant, dependable and lovable link to the hearing world, he changed my life in so many ways. Smudge made a huge impact during the short time that he was here. He was so friendly and human-like, and loved everyone he met - and everyone loved, loved, loved him back. You can read Smudge's story here. I would love to give the gift of constant companionship, a pair of 24/7 ears, incredible loyalty and doggy love to another deaf person, and change their life.

Please donate to help make this possible. £10 will buy a a selection of toys and treats for hearing dogs and puppies, £20 will provide worming tablets for a year, £30 supplies a hearing dog with its uniform, bringing visibility to an otherwise invisible disability.
