Story
Welcome to the 2005 London Marathon page for Team DebRA, we are just some of the runners who ran for DebRA in Flora London Marathon. Whilst it was abeatiful day for specatators it was too hot for comfort for the runners, so a real well done to all our team. Special mention to Debra Runner Nell McAndrew who finished fast enough to qualify for the women's Championship start next year. But every one of our runners deserves your support for a magnificant effort So please be as outrageously generous as you can.
DebRA is the UK charity working to support those with EB which is a genetic condition where the proteins that hold the skin together simply don't. This causes painful blistering and even a gentle hug from a parent can cause damage. There is no cure currently, but our goal is " a life free of pain". As runners we will get blisters and experience pain but after 26 miles we can stop, so please help us and DebRA.
Many of our runners have personal experince of EB, others were motivated by Jonny Kennedy's moving documentary. Some are doing their first (and last) marathon, others just keep coming back for more. While I ran dressed as a giant butterfly with 6 foot wings. Your support and messages on this site helped to carry us through the long hours of the 26.2 miles in April so a big thank you from we runners and our young friends like Kayla, Jadene, Emma and Gemma to all of you.
As it says on the back of the official finishers t-shirts
"Never again ..... Until next time"
