My story
Running in Aid of The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation (Reg Charity No: 1057213)
Welcome to my JustGivng page. You can donate online or by texting SBRF99 £5 to 70070. This will donate the full £5 directly to the foundation. Any amount can be donated and it will simply show on your phone bill. If you can, don't forget Gift Aid as it means your donation is worth 25% extra in terms of tax benefits.
Well on July 1st 2012 I finally completed my challenge albeit an hour behind my anticipated arrival time in Tynemouth. The last few miles it is safe to say I was out on my feet. However, nothing was going to stop me at that point.
The reason for the run is the amazing work the SBRF does in trying to find an answer to cancer. Like many people I have lost friends/family to cancer and to this day one dear family member i.e. my mother, is affected.
Cancer has a knock on effect through loved ones and every £1 raised just takes us one step closer to finding that answer which will save all of us a lot of heartache and pain.
The inspiration behind the run, for me personally, was Sir Bobby himself. He fought cancer for the last 17 years of his life with great dignity and he was very grateful for the care that he received.
It is the goal of Lady Robson and her family to raise as much money as possible to ensure other people benefit from the best possible care, including the new and experimental treatments that are being trialled at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care. Your donation brings us one step closer to achieving that goal (Ref: letter of thanks I have received)
June 27th - Whitehaven to Keswick - Completed
June 28th - Keswick to Penrith - Completed
June 29th - Penrith to Alston - Completed (Also managed Hartside in one go without stopping :-) )
June 30th - Alston - Acomb - Completed
July 1st - Acomb to Tynemouth - Completed
All expenses involved including accommodation, food, drink and any other promotional costs etc are being paid out of my OWN pocket. Therefore EVERY £0.01 raised will go directly to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
It is still not to late to donate so please do so if you can and wish to.
From a personal point of view I would like to thank all friends and family for their support and encouragement. To Pauline Buglass and Liz Luff thank you for your support and guidance.
In particular I have to say a massive thank you to Helen who supported me the whole way and without that help and support it would not have been possible.

All the money raised from my challenge has gone towards a state of the art bio scanner which helps track the growth/spread of cancer. Very very happy about my little part in all of this and thank you to all who donated and supported my efforts. Somethings money just can't buy.
