Providence Marathon · 3 May 2015

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

I always said I would never run a marathon.  I was happy running two laps of a track and that was it.  However I'm in my 40th year, call it what you like, midlife crisis or a challenge?? I wanted to do something that I hadn't done before.  A marathon and driving a rickshaw across India  sounded good ideas.  I have opted for the former first and we will see about the rickshaw later.

Mum is an inspiration to me and ran a 3.46 London marathon when she was 46.  I've just hit 40 and will be lucky to get anywhere near that!

Unfortunately a stroke has curtailed her marathon days (for now!!) so this one is for her and all the other fighters out there who haven't let a stroke get in the way!!  The good news is mum is guiding my training so I'm in with a chance.

Please give generously both for the stroke lot and to have a laugh at me getting my arse kicked by attempting to equal (or beat) mums time which having done 15 miles the other day is going to be a challenge and a half!!

Cheers

James
