Thanks for visiting my fundraising page
I have decided to take part in the Adidas Women's challenge on
Sunday 6th September 2009 to raise money for a charity that is close to my heart -
Resources for Autism (www.resourcesforautism.org.uk)
As some of you may know, I have a 20-year-old brother, Adewunmi, who has autism.
People with autism have said that "the world, to them, is a mass of people, places and events which they struggle to make sense of, and which can cause them considerable anxiety". There are 2.3 million people in the UK affected by autism: family, professionals, carers etc
Which is why charities such as
Resources for Autism are so great. I worked with them for four amazing years and I really got to see the positive effects they have had on young children and adults with autism, and also on their families. All the staff are so dedicated to providing a safe, and fun experience for all the people who use their services, They run schemes based in Barnet, Brent and Southwark.
Things like Youth Club (which I used to run) allowed the young people a chance to come and just be themselves and be teenagers for a couple of hours without feeling stigmatised because of their condition. They also run Adult groups, and reach-out home support that help provide an extra pair of hands around the home of families affected by autism.
I hope to raise at least
£250 from this event, as the first £250 I raise will be matched by my employer. If I can raise more, that would be so amazing!
So dig deep and donate people! No amount is too small &I know how generous you all are!
Also- feel free to foward this page to other friends and family as well.
Please contact
Resources for Autism if you would like more info about autism, or myself if you would like a more personal account of growing up with an autistic sibling.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Resources For Autism gets your money faster and,
if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. Thanks guys!
